An embracing atmosphere
In our view the occupants of our architecture are central. It is no wonder then that building interiors especially have our attention. Ultimately, it is the interior of any design that touches users most directly. Whether an office, a residence, theatre, or laboratory: the key word each time is "atmosphere", a term that defies definition but one that everyone understands instinctively.
We start with a thorough analysis of the users and activities we are to house. All the relevant conditions, whether spatial (building plans or existing structure), functional and financial, are clearly set out. It is within this framework that we guarantee ease of use combined with flexibility, sustainability, safety, and maintenance-friendliness.
Atmosphere is created with well thought-out space, carefully controlled acoustics, clever use of daylight and artificial lighting, inspiring use of colour and graphics, high-quality materials and soft furnishings. And, not to be overlooked, the right furniture, either chosen with care, reason, and taste from a broad offering of makers and suppliers, or made to design and therefore unique. Art works, certainly in the form of specific project-related commissions, can always provide an extra dimension of surprise and inspiration. Bringing green indoors also affords a welcome addition while contributing to a healthy residential or working environment.
A good interior also says something about you, as a person, a group, or an organisation. Character and identity are key words here. Before we design, we immerse ourselves in who will be the residents or users and find out about their individuality and way of thinking. We then provide for this with surroundings that become a seamless fit. The best interiors are both self-evident and surprising.
