April 2015 The classic Architecture in the Netherlands. Yearbook 2014/2015 was presented on April 22nd at the Erasmus University College in Rotterdam. Pop venue Gebr. de Nobel designed by Ector Hoogstad Architecten is one of the 30 most outstanding projects discussed in this publication. The yearbook Architecture in the Netherlands is the international business card for Dutch architecture. It describes the most important developments and trends that influence the production and design of Dutch architecture. This publication also contains a survey of the most important awards, competitions, exhibitions and publications of the past year.
In Leiden "there has been a genuine metamorphosis" according to the yearbook editorial team consisting of Tom Avermaete, Hans van der Heijden, Edwin Oostmeijer and Linda Vlassenrood. Gebr. de Nobel is part of a building block with mostly nineteenth-century architecture opposite the cultural center Scheltema. According to the editorial team "it turned out to be a happy choice of location for a pop music venue. The fine grain and boundaries of the existing block and the mix of business, culture and housing have delivered interesting spaces and a lively new use".
This 28th edition of the Architecture Yearbook can be purchased from NAi Booksellers.
