Pioneering architecture for an ever better future – that is the goal of Ector Hoogstad Architecten. We make spatial designs on all scale levels for various types of clients, with knowledge landscapes as a basic theme. We are experts in creating environments that make people excel together in knowledge processes. In close collaboration with all stakeholders we come up with remarkable designs in all respects; architecture, technology, sustainability, flexibility, future value, and so on. We do not shy away from complexity – it just makes us more determined.
EHA was founded in 1959 by Jan Hoogstad (1930-2018), who learned the trade during the post-war reconstruction of Rotterdam by working for major Dutch modernists such as Maaskant. Numerous remarkable buildings still bear witness of his rich oeuvre. Sixty years later, EHA has grown into a diverse and talented team of over fifty design and management professionals, led by five partners: Joost Ector, Gijs Weijnen, Max Pape, Chris Arts and Koen Klijn. In 2018, the office relocated to the top floor of the iconic and bustling Hofpoort (the former "Shell Tower") on Hofplein in the heart of Rotterdam.
As a full service architectural firm we operate just as easily within a traditional project organization as in innovative variants where we participate in larger consortia or act as total engineer. The core of our design philosophy is a firm belief in integral collaboration based on knowledge, creativity and experience, that takes place on all levels: with clients and end users, with design consultants and with building partners. That is why we constantly invest in tools and skills for excellent communication. Together we can produce better ideas, smarter solutions and optimal support. This is how we deliver maximum added value – for society, for the end users of our buildings and for our clients.
