October 2014 On Octorber 10th construction has started of the Biotech Training Facility at Leiden Bio Science Park. In this unique international training facility employees and students will be trained in working under GMP conditions with state-of-the-art facilities. GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) is the strict safety and quality regime for the manufacturing of drugs. Ector Hoogstad Architecten created a design in which complex technology is combined with an architectural appearance marked by simplicity: a largely closed volume on a transparent ground floor that anchors the building in its environment. EHA designed the building in close collaboration with BAM Utiliteitsbouw, BAM Engineering, Interflow (a subsidiary of BAM Engineering, specializing in cleanrooms), Smit Westerman (construction) and Valstar Simonis (installation advisor). The process from design to realization of this Design & Build goes with impressive speed. In October 2013 a selection round ended with submitting a VO. A year later construction started. Construction will be completed mid 2015.
