January 2015 This year starts well with the construction of the Center Court on the Brightlands Chemelot Campus in Geleen. Deputy Twan Beurskens and Bert Kip, director of the Brightlands Chemelot Campus, gave the official go-ahead during the New Year's meeting of the campus. Around an imposing central hallway with experience center for newly developed bio-based materials, catering facilities, a conference center, sports facilities and a parking garage are composed. On the second and third floors there will be teaching and research areas of the University of Maastricht and CHILL. On the upper floors the office of the DSM Innovation Centre will be located. Center Court is made possible by the Province of Limburg, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the municipality of Sittard-Geleen.
The construction of this 18,000 m² building will be carried out by BAM Construction and property. Planning is challenging. Delivery will take place in May 2016. Therefor the highest point will be reached before construction holiday 2015. This is possible because the building is fully realized as steel skeleton. At the end of October this year, the building is wind and waterproof. Soon a webcam will be installed so you can monitor progress.
