Contract Zernikeborg signed

With signatures of Max Pape (at the right) and Jan de Jeu (Vice-President of the Executive Board RUG, left) we confirmed the contract for designing the Zernikeborg, a new building for the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of the University of Groningen. Zernikeborg will be part of the Science Square at the Zernike campus, along with the Energy Academy, Linnaeusborg, and Bernouilliborg. At the moment we are working on the preliminary design. The building will have a total floor area of about 50.000m2 and contains offices, educational spaces (including an auditorium  for 400 students) and a variety of laboratories (chemical, biochemical and physical laboratories with cleanrooms and vibration labs to VC_F).

The building will be constructed in two phases. The first phase will be completed in early 2019, the completion of the second and final phase is expected in 2021. The design team also consists StevensvanDijck (project management), ARCADIS (installation advice), ABT & Wassenaar (construction advice), and DGMR (building physics).
