June 2020 The necessary investment decisions have been taken and the design has been approved by the municipal beauty committee: Next! Delft will be the newest addition to the TU Delft campus. The building is specially designed for scale-ups, young companies that have outgrown the facilities of the adjacent Yes! Delft incubator, and are now looking for an environment that offers more space and facilities, in a somewhat more professional but still slightly stubborn atmosphere.
The building of ultimately 20,000 m2 is being developed by Stone 22 on behalf of the ASR Dutch Science Park Fund. It will be realized in two phases. The first building phase contains so-called makerspace – space for experiment and small-scale production – on the lower floors. The upper floors contain office space. Centrally located is a spacious atrium, containing an auditorium, meeting facilities and informal workplaces. A public restaurant facility will be reaslised on the south side, that will undoubtedly become one of the hotspots of the campus, thanks in part to an attractive terrace that overlooks the already well loved ‘Costa del Yes!’
Thanks to a well-thought-out facade design, in which perforated metal parapets exclude direct sunlight without compromising the view, NeXt! Delft will be a very sustainable building with a BREEAM Excellent score. Construction is scheduled to start shortly after summer, with phase 1 due for completion at the end of 2021.
The NeXt design team! In addition to Ector Hoogstad Architects, Delft consists of IMd Consulting Engineers (constructions), Nieman Consulting Engineers (installations, building physics and fire safety), Up Architects (additional interior design) and IGG construction economy (building cost management).
