EHA cs. win in Utrecht

the current situation at Utrecht CS

The joint team of Ector Hoogstad Architects, landscape designers Sant & Co and Royal Haskoning has been selected to design the new East Station Square in Utrecht. The team was selected after its bid was judged to be very convincing and thorough by the selection comittee. East Station Square will be an important and integral part of the largest public transport hub in the Netherlands. The square will give acces to Utrecht's historical city center as well as the Hoog Catharijne shopping mall. A largely transparant roof will cover the square, providing comfort and enery. A large bicycle parkingfor some 12,500 bicycles will be built underneath the raised square, creating the largest of its kind in the Netherlands, maybe even in the world. The design process for this unusually complex project will start immediately. Completion is scheduled for 2016.
