February 2016 On February 4th the new faculty building for Applied Sciences in Delft is completed. This brand new building on the Van der Maasweg consists mostly of laboratories for the departments Bionanoscience, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology that meet the highest requirements in terms of vibration, temperature stability and ventilation. The structure was developed in close consultation with its users so we are sure that conditions are suitable for high-quality research now and in the coming decades. The educational and research areas are connected to a stunning atrium. This atrium is also the social hub of the building with reception desk, seating and study areas. It’s a beautiful meeting place with lots of green combined with striking blue-green images. These images, provided by the various departments, are processed into abstracted and distinctive prints.
An integrated design team consisting of Ector Hoogstad Architecten, Aronsohn Management, Pieters Bouwtechniek, Valstar Simonis, ABT and Peutz, together with the consortium Hurks-Kuijpers/ULC and laboratory specialist Waldner, came to this impressive result.
