March 2015 Recently we participated (in collaboration with Architectbureau J. van Stigt in Amsterdam) in a closed competition for the redevelopment of the so-called LocHal in the station area of Tilburg. This building will be transformed into a new Town Hall, containing the public library in combination with Seats2meet and a series of institutions in the field of art and culture. Our proposal differed from the original question by not filling one half of the double hall with program and keep the other half as a hall. Instead, we fitted the program by using a range of platforms so the most important qualities, namely the imposing scale and unprecedented spaciousness of the building, can remain intact and be felt everywhere. Long sight lines make different users and activities visible to each other. Unfortunately, our entry was not favored by the jury. Nevertheless, we want to share this beautiful image of our vision!
