March 2013 Mayor Van der Laan (central in the photo) and Aldermen of Amsterdam recently chose the new Matrix VI building at Amsterdam Science Park (ASP) as location for their regular meeting. The building designed by Ector Hoogstad Architecten was also the scene for a luncheon with representatives of the University of Amsterdam, NWO (Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research), the city of Amsterdam and several other companies. Subject of conversation was the question how to optimise collaborations further in order to stimulate scientific and economic development. Matrix VI is a perfect example: it is a highly sustainable and flexible building offering well equipped commercial laboratory and office units to startups in the growing life science sector. Geert Haksteen, director of the Matrix Innovation Center (3rd to the right on the photo) received numerous compliments for the quality and architecture of the new building.
