August 2011 The steel table-construction of the future department of Mathmatics and Computer Science of Eindhoven University of Technology has been completed. This construction uses only twenty slender columns to lift the 16.000 m2 of floorspace of the department building over the checker board roof of the existing monumental W-hal, that is being redeveloped to become the University's student facility. The engineers of ABT designed a "light" construction consisting of four giant two story high trusses, that were transported at night, so obstacles on the route could be temporarily removed. The "upper building" will eventually comprise five stories and will be topped out in November. At the same time the renovation of the facade of the W-hall is also progressing steadily. "MetaForum" was chosen in a competition organised among the TU/e community as the new name for the integral building complex. Don't forget to check the projects webcam.
