July 2015 For the station area of Utrecht, Ector Hoogstad Architecten designed also an HOV overpass. This viaduct will connect the new bus station under the public transport terminal, with the city center and on the other side of the rail track. Contractor BAM is currently pouring - after impressive wickerwork with 32 mm rebar - the two bridge pillars in black concrete. From December this year, the bus can use the overpass and from mid-2017 the tram. This is also the moment of removing a temporary embankment, so the bridge can be admired as a stand-alone for the first time. It will take at least until 2019 before water will run underneath. On the other side of the rail track a similar overpass is built, designed by Studio SK (Movares) and also carried out entirely in the characterizing black concrete.
