September 2013 Station square east in Utrecht is one of five projects nominated for a Schreuders Award. The prize for outstanding underground architectural projects in the Netherlands is awarded by the COB (knowledge centre for underground architecture).
Our project is about creating a new connection to the old city center in the shape of a raised square. It also includes the design of all the surrouding public spaces, a large transparent canopy and a parking facility for 12.500 bicycles.
Winners will be announced by jury president Johan Bosch during the underground architecture congress on October 31st . The award a €25.000 cheque is presented by Rients Dijkstra, government advisor for infrastructure and city.
