March 2011 Within the framework of the Campus 2020 master plan, Eindhoven University of Technology is currently transforming and enlarging the monumental W-hall to house the central university library and the Faculty of Mathematics & Computer Science (W&I). The design for this project was made by EHA. The original W-hall will be fully reused and its characteristic checkerboard roof construction will remain one of the architectural icons of the campus. Raised above it by only twenty slender columns is the new ultra compact building for W&I. This exciting combination of old and new results in a very complex construction process, that can now be witnessed through a webcam, mounted on the neighbouring main building. Completion of the project is scheduled for te summer of 2012.
