This call for ideas in the city of Orléans invited a selection of architects to envision a new building for an international school. In addition to the educational spaces, the school was to host recreational and dining spaces and a boarding school. The program also asked for an adjoining public sports hall with a multifunctional room for social events.
The chosen site has a prominent position along the Avenue de droit de l’homme, at the entrance of the city. In consideration of that, the elevations along the street are treated as a monumental and representative façade, which in turn encloses and distributes the different functions around a more intimate inner space. A large green canopy covers and unifies the complex and creates unique in-between spaces that students can use for any kind of extra-curricular activity.
