At the Utrecht Science Park, Ector Hoogstad Architecten created a new Education Centre consisting of three buildings: the new Viktor J. Koningsberger building, the renovation of the Minnaert building (originally designed by Neutelings Riedijk Architecten) and the connecting ‘Loop’. The result is a future proof Knowledge Landscape with various conference rooms, laboratories, educational spaces and restaurants, where students and researchers can meet and exchange knowledge. The façade of the new building is made of an intriguing semi-transparent blue and green glass, providing a sharp contrast with the red brown ‘earthy’ façade of the Minnaert building and the bright green façade of the ‘Loop’.
