Koelhuis is a multi-tenant office building and it is the result of an extraordinary transformation. In the seventies, the original building functioned as an ice-cream storage for a dairy company, FrieslandCampina. The pragmatic design consists of a heavy concrete skeleton with “double-t-slabs”, commonly applied in bridge structures, used as a façade. This resulted in a mysterious, closed concrete box. Commissioned by developer Bakkers Hommen Waerdevast, Ector Hoogstad Architecten designed a spacious new office in the 7-meter high storage spaces. »
